Psychotherapy for Young Adults

Young adulthood is a time of significant transition. At this point in their lives, college students and other young adults often find difficulty negotiating this transition and it can bring up a lot of challenges. It can affect individuals in a lot of different ways, such as depression, anxiety, and just feeling “lost.”

They’re facing new adult requirements, transitioning away from their parents, having difficulty organizing their time in regard to school work and jobs. And oftentimes, the social relationships and friendships they have relied on in the past change. All of this can contribute to a sense of being overwhelmed or out of control.

Negotiating these transitions are key to your own happiness and to enable you to find your own sense of identity. Interestingly, I often have found that young adults generally know what is ailing them, but they may not be equipped to explore and articulate what’s going on. Life has lessons for all of us and what you have learned to this point is essential to our work together. The question is what do you want to be different in your life?

Whether you are struggling with relationships, stress, emotional instability, parenting challenges, trauma, or difficulty facing change or setting life goals, together, we will uncover what are your blocks and how to implement strategies that are effective in making the lasting change you want. As in my work with families and children, I utilize the strength-based approach to identify and support your unique capabilities as a path to address present challenges.
